Last week, the teams from Next Ocean and BW Ideol, two of the FLOATECH partners, completed the installation of the radar on the FLOATGEN Floating Offshore Wind Turbine located near St. Nazaire (France).
This is a major step for the project, contributing to the development of the wave-based feed-forward motion control that is expected to reduce the wave induced oscillations over a wide range of operating conditions thus enhancing power production performance and increasing the capacity factor of the floating turbine.
